Welcome to 2025 and the MLC Old Collegians' Community
As we embrace the new year, I am excited to welcome the Class of 2024 to the MLC Old Collegians' Club (OCC). This is a momentous time for you as you step beyond the school gates and begin a new chapter in your life and we are thrilled to have you join our community.
The OCC has been a cornerstone of connection and support since 1904. Our mission is to nurture lasting relationships, ensuring that the MLC community extends well beyond graduation. Whether you’re reconnecting with old friends or forging new bonds, the OCC is here for you at every stage of your life.
The OCC council is made up of 15 passionate volunteers and is dedicated to:
- Preserving College connections: We maintain communication with alumnae, ensuring that the ties we’ve built over the years remain strong.
- Fostering social engagement: We organise events and programs to promote social connections.
- Cultivating loyalty: Many of our committee members are driven by a desire to give back to the community that shaped them and to keep the spirit of MLC alive.
This year, the OCC has a number of exciting events to look forward to. Our International Women’s Day event in March will feature guest speaker Mary Wooldridge (1984), a key figure behind the workplace gender report. We also look forward to our Chapel and Lunch Celebration event in May, as well as the Annual Golf Day in October, which has been a tradition for over 70 years. For those interested in professional growth, our Mentoring Program provides a wonderful opportunity for both mentees and mentors to foster meaningful connections and support one another. Additionally, the Val Kerr Fellowship offers financial support of up to $10,000 to Old Collegians involved in not-for-profit ventures.
In today’s fast-paced world, the need for connection has never been more important. We believe that what makes us human is our ability to connect with others, and it’s this connection that strengthens our community. Whether you share a graduation year or not, MLC provides a common thread – a bond that unites us. Through the OCC, you can enjoy the existing connections that shaped your school years and create new ones that will last a lifetime.
The OCC offers a space where a sense of belonging is built on shared experiences. Through MLC, we come together as women navigating the world, united in our strength and shared history. In a time when society can often seem fragmented, we are proud to offer something positive, empowering and supportive to our community.
Here’s to a year filled with connection, growth and the vibrant spirit of the MLC Old Collegians!
