Congratulations VCE Class of 2024

Congratulations VCE Class of 2024

December 12th, 2024

Congratulations to MLC’s VCE Class of 2024, who received their ATAR results today. We are proud to celebrate this remarkable cohort for the leadership, dedication and resilience they have demonstrated throughout their educational journey.

Key results include:

  • 1 student achieved a perfect ATAR of 99.95, and 3 students achieved 99.90.
  • 14 students achieved an ATAR of 99 or above
  • 86 students (40% of the VCE cohort) achieved an ATAR of 90 or above
  • 10 students achieved a perfect study score of 50, across 9 different subjects, including Mathematical Methods, History, VCE VET Hospitality (Cookery), Legal Studies and English.

Special congratulations to this year’s VCE Dux, Bridget Davis, who attained a top ATAR of 99.95, and our VCE Duce Secundae, Eleanore Bui, Inez Singer and Isabella Zhou, who all achieved 99.90.

While the most visible results today are ATARs, we also celebrate the many achievements that cannot be measured by numbers: the perseverance to achieve personal bests, the courage to rise to challenges, and the leadership and enthusiasm shown across the MLC community. These qualities ensure our graduates are well-prepared for success in an ever-changing world.

These results underscore the importance of a nurturing environment where students are supported to explore their interests and passions throughout their school journey. In their final years, this focus helps them apply themselves to learning areas that inspire and motivate them.

Principal Julia Shea says, “As educators, we know that students will excel when applying themselves to learning areas they’re genuinely passionate about.

“The breadth of achievements across an impressive 48 subjects this year reflects the diverse talents and determination of our students, and I am thrilled to celebrate these outstanding VCE results with the MLC community, and I couldn’t be prouder of the exceptional resilience and determination demonstrated by every student throughout the year.”

Hear From our Students

For many students, the morning was a mixture of excitement and nerves. MLC Dux, Bridget Davis, says “I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was thrilled. I’m feeling incredibly excited this morning.” Bridget hopes to continue her love of maths and languages by studying Commerce at the University of Melbourne, as well as a Diploma of Languages in French or Latin.

Isabella Zhou describes the morning as a dream, “I had to speak to my parents to make sure it was real; it felt so much like a dream! I’m really excited now and I’m really happy for my friends too.” Next year, Isabella has her sights set on Dentistry at the University of Melbourne.

Sharing the same initial shock, Eleanore Bui says “I looked at the results and couldn’t comprehend that they were mine! Now, I’m really happy and excited for what is next to come.” Eleanore is hoping to receive acceptance into Medicine in January.

Madi Smith and Sienna Au also hope to pursue Medicine next year to continue their passion for STEM. Sienna says “I’m feeling really overjoyed having seen my result and knowing all the hard work I’ve put in this year has come to fruition.”

Expressing her excitement about receiving the score needed for her desired course, Annika Eisenmajer describes feeling really happy to know she can follow her passion for Law and Psychology, “I want to study a double degree of Law and Psychology at Monash. I've always been interested in Law after doing Legal Studies, and I did Psychology in VCE and loved that.”

Inez Singer shares how she feels proud and excited for both herself and her friends, “I was really excited and really proud of myself and my friends because I’ve heard some really incredible results from them today.” Inez plans to continue her passion for humanities, which she embraced in VCE, by studying Arts at the University of Melbourne.

13 students who received an ATAR of 99 or above attended the College today share congratulations and celebrate with each other

Embracing Opportunity

Beyond their academic success, our Year 12 students have embraced every opportunity to grow, lead and inspire others through broader learning and co-curricular activities. Whether through involvement in music ensembles, charitable initiatives, productions, sport, student clubs, action groups, our Health and Fitness programs or meaningful community service projects, MLC students are encouraged to explore their interests.

This year, Year 12 students studied an impressive 48 different VCE subjects, led 30 student clubs, participated in 20 music ensembles, competed in over 30 sports, and took on 200 leadership positions.

Reflecting on her final year and involvement in co-curricular activities, Madi Smith offers advice for future VCE students, “make sure that you stay involved in fun activities in school and outside of school. Prioritise being with friends and sport, because it’s all about balance.”
