Congratulations to all 40 Year 11 students who were inducted into their official student leadership roles for the 2025 school year, at the 2025 Senior Student Leader Induction Assembly on Wednesday, 9 October.
Our 2025 Senior Student Leader Executive were also announced: Caroline, Senior Prefect; Sunday, Deputy Senior Prefect; Madeleine, Deputy Senior Prefect; Alannah, Head of Houses Prefect; Mary-Jane, Student Representative Council Prefect.
Each year, this dedicated group plays a vital role in strengthening connections within the MLC community, leading by example, and guiding both the student body and the wider Prefect team.
We had a chance to speak to our incoming Prefects about their goals as student leaders, and their hopes and ambitions for their peers across the College community. Their areas of focus range from enhancing school engagement through fostering inclusivity, community service, sustainability, and co-curricular participation, strengthening cross-year level connections and empowering peers while focusing on collaboration, compassion and courage.
“I aim to build a great sense of belonging for all students at MLC. Who knows what 2025 will have to offer, but I promise to my school community that I will explore any potential with courage and bravery.” - Caroline, Senior Prefect.
“I want to improve every student's experience at school, so that everyone feels safe and welcomed. I want to serve my peers by fostering an environment which supports them in stepping out of their comfort zones, as well as being someone to talk to and laugh with.” - Sunday, Deputy Senior Prefect.
“My hope is that the Class of 2025 fully immerse themselves in all the experiences Year 12 has to offer, and achieve all their academic and personal goals. I hope to support this vision by creating a supportive and encouraging environment in which all students can thrive.“ - Madeleine, Deputy Senior Prefect
“I will approach my responsibilities with dedication, an open mind and with a view of making a difference with my team. I am driven to inspire others to understand that stepping out of their comfort zone is okay, and the benefits of learning as a result will help us in life generally.” - Alannah, Head of Houses Prefect.
“My hope for the Class of 2025 is that we will empower and support each other to do our best. I look forward to more of these displays of support amongst our year level as we embark on the final stretch of our secondary school lives.” - Mary-Jane, SRC Prefect.
A special thank you to our 2024 Leaders for their outstanding efforts in guiding and inspiring our student body throughout the year. We look forward to seeing our new leaders embrace their roles with confidence and enthusiasm.
