MLC alumna Annabel Sutherland makes history in women’s cricket

Everyone at MLC is buzzing with pride as we celebrate the remarkable achievement of our alumna, Annabel Sutherland (2019), who has made history at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). On January 31, 2025, during the highly anticipated Women’s Ashes Test against England, Annabel etched her name in the record books by becoming the first woman to score a Test century at the MCG, racking up an impressive 163 runs.

Her phenomenal performance not only propelled Australia to a commanding lead in the match but also earned her a coveted spot on the MCG’s prestigious Honour Board, a recognition traditionally reserved for male cricketers. This moment is more than just a personal triumph; it is a historic milestone in cricket, symbolising the increasing recognition and respect for women in sport.
