As we continue to move forward with the exciting development of the Physical Education and Sport Precinct, we are pleased to highlight the important role that our students have played – and continue to play – in shaping this project.
These workshops, tailored to different age groups, began with the question: “What makes you feel good?” This approach allowed students to explore and share the elements that contribute to their wellbeing, helping us to better understand their vision for the new precinct.
“I was really happy to have a say in the new precinct because I felt like I had a voice in the decision. I think all the students are going to be a lot more pleased with the new building because of all the student input from different year levels.” Alexia, Year 9.
“I really enjoyed being able to see the process of not just how MLC was planning the new precinct but also how the architects were, as I'm interested in architecture. It was really good to get that insight into the process.” Andzelika, Year 12.
Engaging directly with our students brings us closer to creating a precinct that meets the diverse needs of our entire student body, while giving them a sense of ownership over the space they’ll use. By understanding their preferences for natural light, calming spaces and natural materials, we are better equipped to design a space where students feel motivated, welcomed and inspired to learn and engage in physical activity.
“I thought it was really good that not only students who use the current sports centre shared their opinion, but also the students who will be using the precinct in the coming years. I’m excited to see how the space is used.” Min, Year 8.
“The new precinct is much bigger, so it will encourage me to try more sports. I’m excited about seeing the whole thing come together.” Joy, Year 7.
The feedback from these workshops will be instrumental in refining the final design of the Physical Education and Sport Precinct. We invite you to visit the Physical Education and Sports Precinct website regularly for updates and to follow the progress.
