Congratulations to MLC’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Class of 2024, who received their IB diploma scores on Tuesday and their notional ATARs yesterday. We celebrate every student who participated in the IB Diploma Programme this year, acknowledging their dedication to critical thinking, global perspectives and academic excellence.
Key results include:
We extend a further congratulations to this years’ IB Dux, who wishes to remain anonymous, and our IB Dux Secundae, Hannah Kilpatrick, Lily Wang, Alice Xu, Alena Xu, Celina Yu and Iris Zhang.
MLC has offered the IB Diploma Programme for over two decades and is closely aligned with MLC’s vision of ‘inspiring students to be citizens the world needs.’ The program fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and a global perspective, instilling in our students the values, skills and perspectives needed to thrive in an interconnected and ever-evolving global landscape.
Principal Julia Shea says, “One of the many strengths of the IB Diploma Programme is its emphasis on balance. It encourages students to excel academically while actively pursuing their interests beyond the classroom. I am incredibly proud of how our students have embraced these opportunities with enthusiasm, courage, and a commitment to personal growth.”
“We are confident that our 2024 IB graduates will go on to lead bright futures and make meaningful contributions on a global scale.”
Hannah Kilpatrick was ecstatic with her results, despite feeling the expected nerves yesterday morning. Reflecting on her Year 12 experience, she shared how she managed to balance her studies with other commitments.
“It was challenging, especially managing studying for exams and the internal assessments,” she said. “For me, I did a lot of co-curricular activities. I was involved in 4-5 music ensembles which really helped alleviate stress and motivated me to study when I had the free time.”
Looking ahead, Hanah hopes to pursue Medicine at Monash University. “I’ve always liked science, which is why I took two science subjects this year. But it was the MLC trip to Thailand to visit a Thai medical clinic that made me want to study medicine. Seeing how much doctors and nurses do to help people inspired me and made me want to give back to smaller communities.”
She also shared some advice for future Year 12 IB Diploma students: “Start studying early but also make sure you’re not sacrificing co-curricular activities and other things you enjoy because they help you maintain a healthy balance.”
