It's been a whirlwind time for snowsports, with the students representing MLC competing in both the Victorian Interschool Snowsports Champsionships, as well as the Australian Snow Sport Championships!

97 students from the MLC Snow Sports Team competed in the Victorian Interschool Snowsports Championships in Mt Buller, with the premier event celebrating their 60th year.

Congratulations to all girls who competed, with our Junior School team coming 4th overall and Senior School coming 3rd amongst some tough competition!

Some highlights included winning the Division 1 Alpine and Skiercross team events, and special mentions to Claire Shaw for medalling in all her downhill events, Anika Whitby for placing 3rd in Alpine GS, 2nd in Skiercross and 3rd in Boardercross and Sophie Mahon coming 1st in Division 2 Alpine and Skiercross. We wish Sophie all the very best as she relocates to study at Stratton Mountain High School in Vermont, in the USA, where she will be studying and futhering her skiing career.

Last week, forty members of the MLC Snow Sports team then took to Buller for the Australian Snow Sport Championships competing in tough conditions: wind, fog and lots of snow.

The final results saw MLC place 3rd in the Senior Girls Championship and 10th in the Junior Girls Championship. Fantastic results!

MLC medalled in two team events and one individual event:
Div. 1 SX – 1st – Tori Hill, Claire Shaw and Phoebe Howlett
Div. 1 Alpine – 2nd - Tori Hill, Claire Shaw, Phoebe Howlett and Coco Goldacre.
Div. 1 Moguls –   3rd - Tori Hill

The skiers and boarders were all composed, resilient and determined. We couldn’t have been more proud of each and every competitor and of course, the parents who supported us by officialling and managing teams.
